We will continue to have a basket for donations and entire donation will be given to Steve. We will let the participants make the choice to how they would like to donate and do ask for some donation if using his drums. Steve has a 60 minute drive one way to get to us in Fishers.

We would like to continue with the spirit of our usual format where Steve teaches different rhythms and we drum along with him continuing to expand our skills. He has now been working with our circle monthly for almost 2 years, and we are aspiring to go into our into the community to drum soon as a group. He says our group is ready.

Please come and join us, and make music with us. Remove jewelry, especially rings before drumming to protect the drums and also because it may be hard to remove as fingers sometimes get bigger with drumming.

Join us for the 8th annual Spring Fling Drum Thing! Arrivals begin at 4:00 EDT Friday; we end Sunday after lunch. Djembes & ashikos are available for rent ($15) or purchase.  Here’s what to expect:

hands-on instruction using drums, small hand percussion

instruments, our bodies, and voices

the skills necessary to play comfortably in any group,

regardless of experience or skill level

the guidance and support you need to reach your next level of

playing & facilitation skills

the skills necessary to best teach yourself and others improvisational & part-oriented world drumming, including African drumming using body movement & voice to quickly learn drumming skills & synchronize groups skills for accompanying dance, singing, & chant

how to buy & care for drums, hand percussion using the power of the drum for creativity, spirituality, healing, ritual, & community building exploring rhythm from a female perspective; what to do when

male and female energies clash

Break-outs for beginners focus on gaining a solid basic skill-set: correct playing technique; finding and keep an even beat; accurately subdividing beats and playing syncopated rhythms; strategies for ostinato-based improvising; and playing simple African rhythms.

Break-outs for intermediate/advanced players focus on more complex rhythmic and performing concepts: additive and divisive rhythms; playing in odd and unusual meters; more complex tihais; arranging pieces for performance; extended playing techniques; improved independent coordination and listening skills; accompanying skills; creating powerful and expressive solos; teaching and facilitating techniques; and more challenging and complex world music rhythms, including African ensemble playing.  We’ll stretch you as far as you want!

Other break-outs will include movement, dance, and chanting, and hopefully Japanese taiko drumming.  The Saturday night breakouts will be chanting, and Indian vocal percussion (bols or solkattu, which imitates drum strokes)—learn about Indian rhythm, and we’ll learn a piece.  Check out Sheila Chandra on YouTube doing her Speaking in Tongues pieces!

Come celebrate the spring, refresh your mind and spirit, and recharge your creativity!

Nutrition Consultation With Pamela

Pamela Alboher-Ray, Ph.D. Certified Clinical Nutritionist

36 years experience

Consultation Options:

Completed Applications are required before any consultations are scheduled, and are required for all new clients and clients whose last appointment is more than 12 months ago. Dr. Alboher-Ray handles no insurance matters for labs or appointments.

If you are interested in a in office, phone, or email consultation please use the contact button on this site and to relay your inquiry. Please include information about what specific help you are looking for and an application may be then forwarded to you.

In Office Appointments:

For the very best outcomes Dr. Alboher-Ray recommends several appointments, QRA testing, and electro-acupuncture.  Pamela first schedules appointments with people who are referred to her either by another practitioner, another client, or one of the staff working at North Star Health. Please put a name in the referral line of the application. Once the application is received it will be reviewed and you will be contacted about Pamela’s availability. An in person consultation allows Pamela to do a QRA evaluation with patented O-Ring testing to more adeptly determine your specific supplemental requirements. QRA is the most effective testing she has found to date. Most appointments include some bodywork.

In Office QRA Testing

QRA Testing:  1st appointment is approx 60-90 minutes. (Sometimes Children take less time) Follow-ups are 30-60 minutes.  With the application a 7 day diet log is required. You may be given questionnaires to fill in before appointment. Also knowing your blood type is helpful. North Star sells blood testing kits and pH paper.  Other testing is also available and will be discussed in your appointment.  Foundation Option to help get you started: If the foundation program a person is following is inadequate a program can be written for client to follow until their appointment time.  Iridology Evaluation is usually done as part of in office QRA appointments, as well as Bi-Digital O-Ring Muscle Testing. These evaluations help reveal each persons unique requirements and enhance our ability to personalize each program design. A current blood chemistry result is also helpful. Clients can get them from their doctor and have results forwarded to our office. For insurance reimbursement of blood chemistry we encourage client’s doctor order blood and urine chemistry.  Bodywork and Electro-Acupuncture (ETPS) is also often done in these appointments.
Other Appointments

“Ask the Expert” Nutrition Consultation Appointments:  Applications are filled out ahead of appointments.  Minimum in office consult is 30 minutes.  Phone and email consultations are also available after application process.   The fees for the session are based on time spent.   Sessions can have an abbreviated questionnaire or no questionnaire. 7 Day Diet Intake log, is helpful.   In this appointment recommendations for diet and nutrients can be made.  Written programs sheet may be extra.

Body Work sessions can include Electro-Acupuncture (ETPS), aromatherapy, Thai Massage, Reflexology, QRA and nutritional help.

No medical condition will be diagnosed or treated and are designed to respect any and all recommendations or treatment by other health practitioners.

Dr. Alboher-Ray, or staff at North Star Health Center do not give medical advice, diagnose or treat disease, or prescribe medication. We encourage clients to consult with their physician for medical matters.

Full payment for consultation appointments and all labs, nutrients etc is expected at the time services are rendered and cash, checks, Visa, Master Cards are accepted.  Nutrients, testing, other services are not included in consultation fees.   Payment plans are available, and are to be agreed upon before first session.

Wild Flower Foray

Greetings, I love spring and one of my favorite events in the spring is the Wildflower Foray down in Brown County. I have lead the medicinal walks there in many of the past years. I will not be teaching this year and I do plan to go to and participate.  This year it is  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday April 22, 23, and 24. One of the goals for the weekend is to count all the wildflowers, and they are quite glorious to see.

Go to their website and you will find the brochure for this year. All the events are free of charge and attract many of the wonderful people who care take our local parks and i believe is sponsored by the DNR.  Walking in nature down in beautiful brown county is such a treat with like minded lovers of nature.  My favorite walk is with Tom Swinford in the TC Steele property near Nashville which is 9am and 1pm on Friday.

Hope to see you there. Sincerely, Pamela Alboher-Ray

Every nature lover will find something to enjoy during the 25th annual Wildflower Foray: wildflower and bird walks, a Lake Monroe boat trip, history, owl calling, nature photography, medicinal plants, and a geocache-style “treasure hunt.” Experience the sights and sounds of spring in the forests of southern Indiana.
